THE Royal Pavilion ice rink in Brighton has been revealed as the surprise location for the opening sequence of the new series of Dancing on Ice, which began on Sunday night.

Celebrities including singers Cheryl Baker and Lemar, model and actress Donna Air, Scottish rugby player Max Evans, Good Morning Britain’s Alex Beresford and track athlete Perri Shakes-Drayton visited the rink  to shoot the sequence in November.

But the rink organisers were sworn to secrecy until the show went live.

Shella Parkin, CEO of rink creator Laine Ltd,  says, “It was a real pleasure to host the Dancing on Ice team at the Royal Pavilion Ice Rink. We hope the programme will inspire more people to enjoy the magic of ice skating!”

The show, in which celebrities are paired with professional skaters, will run for and is hosted by Philip Schofield and Holly Willoughby with Olympic skating legends Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean sitting on the ice panel alongside Jason Gardiner and choreographer Ashley Banjo.
