The King Power Gold Cup for the British Open Polo Championship

The Gold Cup decides the British Open Polo Championship and is the world’s premier polo tournament at 22 goal (High Goal) level. It attracts international stars of the game to play on Cowdray Park’s famous Lawns. There are 40-plus high octane matches during the tournament, including the Midhurst Town Cup on Sunday July 1 and Argentine Ambassadors Cup on Sunday July 8. It culminates in the Quarter Finals weekend on Saturday and Sunday July 14 and 15, the Semi-Finals (considered by polo insiders to be the best day’s polo in the UK) on Wednesday July 18, and the Final of the King Power Gold Cup on Sunday July 22. Entries for teams of four riders are open for this multi-stage race for men and women, which takes in courses around East and West Sussex. It starts with a Prologue Time Trial and includes flat stages, hilly stages and a Team Time Trial. Stage 1 on Friday is a 1.4km course at Ditching Beacon, Stage 2 on Saturday is 11km at Godowood Worlds Circuit, Stage 3 is on Saturday over 1.5 hours plus five laps at Goodwood Motor Circuit, Stage 4 on Sunday is the 113km course at Ladies Mile, and Stage 5 on Monday July 9 is the 105km Beachy Head Circuit.

Longines FEI Jumping Nations Cup of Great Britain

The All England Jumping Course, Hickstead

Hickstead has hosted the BHS Royal International Horse Show, which uniquely sees the elite of many equestrian disciplines compete side by side, since 1992 and the Longines FEI Jumping Nations Cup of Great Britain is one of the biggest outdoor shows in the country. The international showjumping classes get underway from Thursday onwards, with the highlight of this day being the new-look MS Amlin Eventers’ Challenge, back at Hickstead by popular demand. Friday’s feature class is Longines BHS King George V Gold Cup, one of the oldest and most prestigious classes in the world. Saturday’s Queen Elizabeth II Cup is one of the most coveted titles in the national showjumping circuit, while Sunday’s grand finale is the Longines FEI Jumping Nations Cup™ of Great Britain. This historic competition sees teams of four riders competing to qualify for the series final in Barcelona, and it is the only chance British fans have to see their team compete on home soil. And don’t forget Ladies Day is on Saturday.

Goodwood Festival of Speed

2018 is the 25th anniversary of the Festival of Speed so the theme this year is The Silver Jubilee. Now one of the world’s best-known celebration of motorsport and car culture, the festival will feature 25 favourite moments chosen by the Duke of Richmond from the first 25 events, his personal highlights that have been landmarks in the festival’s history. The festival will continue to remain faithful to its heritage by bringing together racers on two wheels and four on hill and forest rallies. Qatar Goodwood Festival

Goodwood Racecourse, Selhurst Park Road, Chichester

Popularly known as Glorious Goodwood, the Qatar Goodwood Festival is one of the largest and most glamorous race meetings in the world. One of the highlights of the flat racing season, it kicks off with the opening ceremony when the Group 1 Qatar Goodwood Cup takes centre stage on the course. On the second day, the mile-long Group 1 race the Qatar Sussex Stakes has prize money of £1million, attracting a world-class field. Ladies’ Day, on the third day, is the most glamorous day of the meeting and features the unique ladies celebrity race The Magnolia Cup. Ladies’ Day is followed by the £300,000 Group 2 Qatar King George Stakes on day four, plus other races. Festival of Racing

This three-day Festival of Racing at Brighton Racecourse, which is set high above the sea and overlooks Brighton and the surrounding countryside, features the exciting Brighton Mile, its richest race. Ladies Day is on Thursday and as well as seven races, there will also be entertainment, vintage bars and fabulous frocks. The Festival Finale on Friday includes a marquee package available to book in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust and local children’s charity Whoopsadaisy.
