Painting in the Garden Masterclass

The garden at Charleston, the home of the artist Vanessa Bell ,which became a meeting place for the artistic Bloomsbury Group, was designed by artist and critics Roger Fry and it was planted to be painted. Sussex-based artist Julian Le Bas gives a day’s intensive painting tuition when students can lose themselves in the atmosphere of the Walled Garden and surrounding grounds. Looking at approaches to composition, there’s a particular emphasis on colour. The class is suitable for improvers and students should bring their own paints. Easels, boards and brushes are provided. Sussex Guild Craft Show

The Sussex Guild Craft Show at the 16th century Pashley Manor showcases a selection of high quality craft. It’s the 18th show held at Pashley by the Sussex Guild, a group of skilled designer makers living in Sussex and the adjoining counties, with around 40 members exhibiting at the show. Papercutting for Lightboxes Workshop

Tutor Su Blackwell, who has designed art fabric for Liberty London and the set for The Rose Theatre’s production of The Snow Queen, leads students through this workshop, which teaches how to transform images into a three-dimensional papercut light box. Light is used to illuminate delicate and precise scenes made with photographic cutouts or paintings. Woodcut Printed Christmas Cards Workshop
