Brighton Tattoo Convention

Collage Wall Hanging Workshop Inspired by Sussex Landscape

This three-hour workshop is led by artist Sarah Holloway, and in it participants will design and make a handmade paper wall hanging inspired by nature and the local landscape. The tiered collage wall hanging will be inspired by the lines, patterns, textures and colours of the natural landscape. You can bring drawings and photographs for ideas.

Wood Machining – Two Day Course

This two-day course led by John Lloyd of John Lloyd Fine Furniture is an introduction machinery that might be found in a small to medium-sized woodworking workshop and is suitable for those who have their own machinery or those considering purchasing. The main elements for each machine will be adjusting/setting up, choice of blade and blade changing, jigs and dust extraction as well as safe working practices.

Tutor Su Blackwell, who has designed art fabric for Liberty London and the set for The Rose Theatre’s production of The Snow Queen, guides students through each stage of making an exquisite concertina card, which can be used as a greeting card, given as a gift or framed. She demonstrates paper-cutting skills with scalpel blade and she will guide students through the cut-out of their design, building up colour and texture. Woodblock Printing with a Wooden Spoon

Suitable for beginners and those more familiar with woodblock printing techniques, this course, run by Adele Scantlebury of Blackbird Arts, introduces participants to a selection of materials, including paper, inks, tools and blocks. They will be shown how to design and carve a block with the aim of going home with your own original prints. Suitable for adults and competent teenagers. Tools and materials are provided but you can bring your own tools if you wish. Bring lunch and an apron.
